Submission deadline: Friday, April 29

A+ Magazine is currently welcoming submissions from all Mason-Rice students! This year because we are having an online version as well as print, in addition to our traditional printable creations such as drawings, puzzles, book reviews, stories, etc., we will also be accepting video clips or links to musical performances by Mason-Rice students! Send your submissions or leave your creation in the box labeled “A+ Magazine Submissions” located in the main entryway of the school (original work will be returned). Only 3 weeks to get your creations submitted! Please contact us with any questions.

When: April 6 (grades K-2) and April 13 (grades 3-5)

STEAM Playground on 4/6 – Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped make this a fun and educational event for our K-2 students.

STEAM Playground on 4/13 – Thank you to all of the parents who signed up to help. We will be in touch with the assistants with additional information.

Masks are required for STEAM Playground, so please make sure your child has one on 4/13.

We are looking for old electronic devices for take-apart station! Have any old computers, keyboards, phones, vacuum cleaners lying around that you no longer use? We can use them for our take-apart station at STEAM Playground! Please bring them to school at drop off or pick up, on Friday, April 8th and Monday, April 12th, and drop them in the bin in front of the school. Your kids will have a blast taking them apart and learning about the parts! Please contact Sharon Topper if you have something but cannot drop off.

Green Team: Earth Month Event & “Going Green Tips & Tricks” Series

April is Earth Month! To celebrate, Mason-Rice Green Team is organizing a Newton Center Playground Cleanup and Activity on Tuesday, 4/26 3-4pm. Click here for more details and to RSVP.

This month, we are also featuring a special  “Going Green Tips & Tricks” section. We encourage everyone to take at least one action in April to honor Earth Month, whether it is by participating in our Earth Month event, making more sustainable choices in our daily life, or getting out and enjoying Mother Earth. (BONUS: Share your actions during April on Facebook!)

Did you REED this?

Shout out to our Mason-Rice Auction winner, the Mitchell family, for their clever message board joke this week! And an honorable mention to our invaluable librarian, Ms. Reed!

Note that these programs/partnerships, below, run year-round!

  1. Go to Mabel's Labels homepage and click "Support a Fundraiser"
  2. Type and select "Mason-Rice Elementary School PTO"  in the menu
  3. Shop your order and check-out as usual
  4. Mabel's Labels will automatically donate 20% of the order back to the PTO

Enjoy 20% off Minted cards & gifts with promo code [see e-mailed PTO Notes]. 15% of each order will be donated back to the PTO.
