Supporting Your PTO

The Mason-Rice PTO wants to provide options for our families to help support our school and PTO initiatives. Donations of time, materials and financial support are all needed. We are thankful for the generous support from the parent and family community that enables the PTO to provide amazing academic and enrichment programs for our students.

The PTO’s annual operating budget is funded primarily by dues and fundraisers. Contributions to our Annual Fund helps us reduce the number of fundraisers we need to run during the school year. To learn more about the Annual Fund Campaign, click here.

Beyond the Annual Fund, our major fundraisers are as follows:

Online Auction

Typically in January, the PTO hosts its annual online auction. The auction is the second largest of the five fundraisers we do each year. It enables us to to support a variety of enrichment programming that would otherwise be unaffordable, including field trips, author visits, multicultural programs, classroom supplies, and staff development.

Parents can help the auction in several ways:

  • Be an Auction Team member:  Help with project management, auction item entry, donation solicitation from local vendors, or other valuable roles.
  • Donate an item or experiences such as a party, wine tasting, vacation house, kayak rental, gift cards, etc.

Raffle Baskets

Raffle Baskets is the third largest fundraiser for the PTO and the one most enjoyed by the kids!

Each classroom puts together a basket of goodies based on a theme that is chosen by the teacher and the children in the classroom. Room parents coordinate parent donations of kid-friendly items costing between $5 and $10. When the baskets are completed, they are wrapped and displayed in the lobby for the children to see.  All students are given a few free tickets.  Families can also purchase raffle tickets for whatever basket(s) they want.  There are also experiences donated by teachers, specialists, and the main office. At the end of the raffle basket period, winners for each basket/experience are selected by a random drawing of names from a hat.


Mason-Rice PTO encourages you to participate in the AmazonSmile program and take advantage of our year-round promotions with Mabel’s Labels, Minted, and Box Tops for Education. In addition, at points throughout the year, Mason-Rice Spirit Wear is available through our online store. Community members are notified about these “open shopping” periods via the Sunday Notes and our private Facebook page. Book Fair

Our amazing fundraiser and community event, the Book Fair, typically takes place in November each year, transforming the Centre into a children’s bookstore. If is a great opportunity for our children to explore new books and a great way for parents to contribute to the PTO through volunteering and purchasing books. Click here to learn more.
