Every year your child’s class benefits from having Room Parent(s). This is a fantastic way to stay connected to your child’s classroom activities, get to know other parents, and to be involved in the school. Most classes have two volunteers, so being a Room Parent isn’t too time consuming and is lots of fun!
Your Role as a Room Parent
Each teacher may have his or her own ideas about how you can help out. Some teachers need help getting volunteers for field trips, class parties, or writing workshops. Others may want help in soliciting donations to the classroom for art or science projects. Staying in contact with your teacher throughout the year ensures that he or she is getting the parent support needed, and also strengthens your personal connection to the classroom.
You will also help organize your classroom’s fall social and end-of-the-year party. You will assist in the Raffle Basket fundraiser by soliciting voluntary contributions in the form of items or money that can be used to shop for your classroom’s basket. You will help the PTO send out class-specific emails throughout the year.
Room parents for this year have already been selected. We hope you will consider being a room parent next year.
