Mason-Rice Notes 11/9/18

Mason-Rice Notes 11/9/18

Mason-Rice Notes 11/9/18

From the PTO Presidents

Dear Parents,
The Mason-Rice community has been quite active this past week between Bake Sales, elections and the annual Book Fair.  We hope you were able to attend and enjoy the Pajama Party Read Aloud yesterday evening. It’s hard to believe the holiday season is almost upon us.  As we approach the season of giving, we’d firstly like to thank everyone involved in volunteering and donating. We know it’s a busy time of year and we very much appreciate all your efforts to participate and enrich the community and our children’s school experience.
On the Dues Campaign front, we are only $742 from our $40K goal.  Our amazing, supportive community has raised $39,258 to date from 172 families. In the last week, we are grateful to the 15 families whose combined contributions got us $2,440 closer to our goal.  Will YOUR FAMILY be the one to help us get over the line?  There are many ways, we can raise $742 in the next week.  If you haven’t contributed, we want YOU to be a part of it.
The last dues update we would like to write is a big thank you next week —
so write a check and drop it in the lobby — or make it really easy on yourself and pay online via our dues PayPal link this week.  Any amount will get us closer to our goal!  Thank you for rising to the challenge!
In the same spirit of generosity…it is a Mason-Rice School tradition to support the annual Gift of Giving campaign during the holiday season.  The Gift of Giving team will be out in front of the school next Tuesday and Wednesday helping parents select mittens with details on how to provide holiday wishes for a child.  While the Gift of Giving program supports families throughout the Boston metropolitan area, the Mason-Rice PTO is also always ready and willing to support anyone within our community who has a need.  Should your family need support as we enter the winter months, purchasing warm clothes, coats or boots or helping meet a holiday gift need for your child, please do not hesitate to contact Principal Bultema.  Our efforts will be coordinated through Susan Kass, our Mason-Rice Social Worker, and all will be kept strictly confidential.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Bake Sale co-chairs, Janelle Phillips, Jessica Berns, Mayuko Melanson & Joe Riggs for their tireless efforts to concept, coordinate, bake and endlessly promote the Mason-Rice 5th grade Bake Sale which generated record funds.
As the 2018 Mason-Rice Book Fair comes to a close, to everyone on-the-scene and behind-the-scenes we share appreciation and gratitude for a fabulous job!  There was an amazing selection of books and we hope your children brought home a few of those.  It was also a great community event and a nice celebration of literacy.
Most importantly, we thank the Book Fair Chair and “Uber-Coordinator” Eleni Firkusny for her never-ending energy, positive attitude, and perseverance to make this Book Fair run so smoothly and successfully.  A special shout out also to Rebecca Diamondstein, who especially did a magnificent job with the
Bookmark Contest – the children were so eager to participate!  The team players who pulled everything together – THANK YOU to Gabrielle Billeter, Danielle Boudreau, Sarah Fogelman, Sasha Goldman, Laura Kay Hughes, Lucy Mermagen, Ruth Sakakeeny and Jenny Wismer for the momentous effort they put into the Book Fair this year.
And in closing, we want to say a very special Thank You to Carol Ann McAuliffe Delmonico who is serving her last year on the Mason-Rice Book Fair committee.  We appreciate Carol Ann’s incredible dedication over the past 10 years.  Her participation on the Book Fair Committee in the roles as a Co-Chair member and Finance Lead have contributed immensely to successful fundraising for Mason-Rice and an unbelievably fun and educational opportunity for the Mason-Rice community. Thank you Carol Ann, you will be missed dearly!
Want to get extra Halloween candy out of the house? Today is the last day the donation box will be in the lobby. Candy will be donated to a charitable cause.
Lastly just a quick reminder that this coming Monday 11/12 is Veterans Day. We’d like to thank past and present Veterans and their families for their sacrifices and remind you there will be no school on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Jas Rai, Leslie Ziarko Valera & Will Adams
PTO co-Presidents
