What a week – can you believe its almost November and it’s 70 degrees out? It’s wonderful to see the kids still enjoying the playground after school this time of year!
We hope to wrap up the Dues Campaign in the next couple of days, but we are a little short of our target. We have sent donation forms home in your children’s folders to help us get over the line, we hope this will serve as a helpful reminder and aid in helping to get this drive over the line. Thank you to the 153 families that have helped raise $34,840! We are 87% percent of the way to $40,000, BUT WE NEED ALL OF YOU TO GET THERE! Currently only 43% our families have contributed. Please give any amount you are comfortable giving and we can reach 100% participation by the end of the month. Please contribute using the form sent home today and return to the school in the lobby or click here to donate today.
Just a reminder today is the final day of the book fair and on that note, if you haven’t checked out the Teacher & Specialist Book Bags on the table near the door, please do so at drop off or pick up today. Buying books for your classroom teachers and/or specialists is a great way to support them while also adding new, fun books to the smaller libraries your child utilizes at school.
It was great to see so many children, parents, and teachers at the Book Fair this week including last night’s fun PJ read aloud night. The best part of the Book Fair is to see all of the enthusiasm for books from our children! As you can imagine, it takes a lot of effort to run a book fair – from picking the vendor, arranging dates, determining inventory, recruiting, coordinating and training volunteers, setting up and taking down the fair, publicizing the event to our school population, handing the money, organizing the teacher book gifts, coordinating the PJ night, etc. We want to give a BIG thank you to the Book Fair Team: Eleni Speeris, Carol Ann Delmonico, Rebecca Diamondstein, Laura Kay Hughes, Sarah Housman, Ruth Sakakeeny, Sarah Healy, Gabrielle Billeter, Lucy Mermagen, Danielle Boudreau, Sarah Fogelman, Tina Siracusa, Molly Stearns, and Dan Green. We also want to thank all the faculty and parent readers for making a special appearance at the read aloud as well as the 50+ parent volunteers who helped throughout the Book Fair. Getting that many volunteers is no small feat but it is also a wonderful reflection of our amazing community!
As the Book Fair comes to a close, we want to say a special thanks to Tina Siracusa and Sarah Healy, who are serving their last years on the Book Fair committee. We appreciate Tina’s incredible dedication over the years in creating the teacher book bags and completing so many other key tasks needed to run successful book fairs. We also thank Sarah, who has enthusiastically co-chaired the PJ Party Read-Aloud each year – always with a smile on her face (in the middle of the chaos!) Tina and Sarah, you will both be missed.
We wanted to mention again an important safety concern with drop off and pick up. There are a number of parents and caregivers who are still not following the Blue Zone rules and we have witnessed parents/caregivers getting out of their cars in the Blue Zone, drivers doing 3 point turns in front of the school, parents/caregivers picking up children while double-parked, and parents using the teacher parking lot as a drop off. We remind you once again to look over the Blue Zone rules and share them with EVERYONE who picks up your child(ren).
For those of you celebrating Halloween next Tuesday, October 31, we hope you have a wonderful spooky evening and be safe! Want to get extra Halloween candy out of the house? A donation box will be in the M-R lobby from Wednesday through Friday. All candy will be donated to a charitable cause.
We wish all of you a nice weekend. As always, send us an email if you have questions, suggestions or comments.
