Dear Parents,

What a fantastic week at Mason-Rice! It was great to see so many families enjoying the warm, sunny afternoons on the playground, and it’s hard to believe we’re well into the Fall.

We are also well into our Dues Campaign, and we still need your help.  Thank you to the 147 families that have helped raise $34,125.  We are 86% of the way to $40,000, but we need all of you to get there. Our progress towards our goal has slowed, so now is the time to contribute and help hit our target!  Please contribute at any level you can and help us raise the final $5,875 we need.  Click here to donate today.

The Mason-Rice Book Fair will begin next Wednesday, October 25 and run to the end of the week. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only raise money for the PTO, but to raise excitement for literacy in our children!  By now you should have received a flyer in your child’s folder, detailing hours of operation for parents, as well as the schedule for individual classroom visits.  Our Centre is transformed into a buzzing and bustling ‘bookstore’ for both parents and students to enjoy, peruse, and purchase books. Parents can enter the building and visit the Centre during Book Fair Hours beginning at 8:00am (or 7:45am on Thursday!), as well as join their child during his/her scheduled classroom visit!  Please be respectful of teachers and staff and use your time in the school to enjoy the Book Fair only.

One of the highlights of our Book Fair is the Pajama Party Read-Aloud on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30pm.  Children are encouraged to wear their comfiest PJs and visit our classrooms, where parent volunteers and guest readers will entertain them with fantastical stories.  Please click HERE to find out more information about the Book Fair and for a link to the flyer.  We still have many opportunities to volunteer at the Book Fair!  Please visit our Volunteer Page to learn about the available spots.

Finally, we would like to thank both Lisa Spector and Yasmeen Kazimi for their great work with Box Tops and Tea School Days respectively.  Lisa clips and tallies all the Box Tops our community submits, THANK YOU Lisa!  Yasmeen just wrapped up our Tea Collection program and will continue to coordinate shopping programs throughout the year. THANK YOU Yasmeen!

As always, send us an email if you have questions, suggestions or comments.
