Dear Families,

Today marks the closing of a successful 2017-18 school year. As I reflect back upon my first year leading our school I am extremely thankful to partner with such an incredible parent community that goes above and beyond to support our school. I have thoroughly enjoyed building connections and relationships with you and your children. Thank you to all our families for your unwavering willingness to assist and help our school to have such a rewarding year. A special thank you to our PTO presidents Will Adams and Jas Rai for all of their dedication to lead this group, as well as our entire PTO for all of your efforts to ensure our students had such memorable experiences throughout the year.

This past Friday, June 15 our kindergarten students performed beautifully at our Kindergarten Concert. Thank you very much to our music teacher, Ms. McIntosh, accompanist Mrs. Ross, and our kindergarten teachers, Ms. Turgeon, Ms. Pratt, and Ms. Byard, for all of your hard work to prepare our kindergarten students for this event. They have grown so much throughout the year and are more than ready to tackle first grade this upcoming fall.

This Monday, June 18, Principal of the Day Desmond Rohda and I enjoyed the opportunity to travel to classrooms and engage with students throughout the day. Desmond enjoyed getting the chance to spray the hose on our students (especially some of his classmates) and did an outstanding job aiding me in teaching a first grade class how to play an intricate tag game.

This Tuesday, June 19 was truly a special day to celebrate and honor an amazing group of students at our Fifth Grade Graduation. Thank you to all of our Mason-Rice staff for the countless hours of teaching and learning you provided over the years to help shape these students to be ready for their next educational transition. Thank you also to our Graduation Committee, and Sarah Solomon and Tina Siracusa specifically, for all of your work behind the scenes to make sure this was such an unforgettable day for everyone.

In closing I wish you all a wonderful summer. May it provide a moment to slow down and enjoy time with both family and friends. I am so grateful to be a part of this special community and look forward to building upon our fruitful work together in the coming year.
