I hope you all were able to enjoy the lovely spring weather this past long weekend.
Last week we welcomed our incoming kindergarten students and families in our Centre for Kindergarten Registration. It was extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to share time and connect with our new students to help to ease their fears about transitioning to a brand new school this upcoming fall.
This Wednesday, April 4 our second grade students and staff enjoyed an incredibly captivating Creative Arts & Sciences Chinese Ribbon Dance presentation. Students were able to learn about the history of how this dance came to existence within the Chinese culture. Later in the presentation students got the chance to learn how to take part in an actual Chinese ribbon dance and then had the opportunity to perform an improvisational dance for their peers. It was great to be able to join and perform with our second graders in this experience.
This Thursday, April 5 our Mason-Rice community took part in a Social Action Committee Bake Sale to benefit the New England Wildlife Center. Thank you to Kate Wissel and Christina Perez for organizing this worthy cause.
Our Mason-Rice staff is looking forward to our annual Fools’ Folly social event put on by our fabulous Mason-Rice parents this weekend on Saturday, April 7 from 7-11:30 PM at the Newton Highlands Congregational Church. I hope to see many of you there.
Lastly, a letter detailing our placement process for families with children in grades K-4 for the upcoming 2018-19 school year, will be coming with home your child very soon, if it hasn’t already. Please be on the look out for this.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
