I hope you all had an enjoyable April Break. It’s always rewarding to reconnect with everyone as we return from time away from one another. The weather has finally taken a positive turn and it’s been great to hear the birds chirping in the morning, as well as the grass becoming greener.
Visiting classrooms this week to take part in such experiences as joining in a third grade Morning Meeting, supporting fifth graders with the writing of Colonial America Persuasive Letters, practicing with second graders to use arrays to begin conceptualizing multiplication, listening to fourth graders thoughtfully discuss historical events leading up to the Civil Rights movement, observing first graders writing opinion pieces about a favorite vacation or book, and joining a Kindergarten Closing Circle, I am so impressed by the genuine engagement by our students and teachers as they jump back into the learning groove. It’s really remarkable to see firsthand the growth and learning your children are exhibiting.
Our annual Mason-Rice Science Fair will be this evening from 6-7 PM in our Centre and Gymnasium. I look forward to seeing the hard work our students have put into preparing for this event, as well as the opportunity to learn from our students.
NewtonSERVES, a citywide community day of service, will be on this Sunday, April 29. This day provides an excellent opportunity for everyone to work together on a variety of diverse projects in and around our school. I look forward to joining many of you on this day. Please see below for more information.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
