This Tuesday, April 10 our staff was thrilled to enjoy a delicious luncheon prior to our Staff Meeting. On behalf of our entire Mason-Rice Staff I would like to thank all of our grade K-2 parents for their hard work and preparation, as well as Laura Kay Hughes for organizing this event. It was such a diverse and plentiful spread that many of us were able to also take food home that evening. We all feel so blessed to partner with such a thoughtful parent community and truly appreciate your generosity.
This Tuesday, April 10, during the school day and Wednesday, April 11, during the evening, our Mason-Rice community was treated to our 5th Grade Talent Show. I was blown away by the originality and creativity on display. My son attended the evening performance and was captivated by our talented 5th graders. Thank you to Erica Thorp for organizing this incredible event, Jeff Torch and Katie McIntosh for all of your help, 5th graders for taking the risk to perform in front of your peers, and families for supporting and encouraging your children.
This past Saturday, April 7 was our annual Fools’ Folly event. It was a terrific Mardi-Gras themed evening! Thank you to Denise Dandrea, Seema Brodie, and all of the parents who collaborated to make this such a special evening for families and staff to connect and celebrate our amazing school community.
Our annual Mason-Rice Science Fair will be on Friday, April 27 from 6-7 PM in our Centre and Gymnasium. Last year I had the privilege of coming over to attend this event as one of my first introductions to the Mason-Rice community. I look forward to the upcoming evening and the opportunity to learn from our students. Please find more information about registration below in the notes.
NewtonServes, a citywide community day of service, will be coming up on Sunday, April 29, the weekend following our April Break. This is a great way to help our school in an array of projects both inside and outside of our building. I look forward to joining many of you on this day. Please see below for more information about signing up.
Earth Day will occur on Sunday, April 22, the last day of our break. Thank you to our Green Team for creating the lovely mural displayed below in acknowledgement of this important day.
