I hope you are all safe and warm amidst this snowstorm. To think a week ago I was writing about the wonderful, sunny fifty plus degree weather – the blessings of living in New England!
This week began our Spring Conference window. I know our teachers have worked diligently in preparation for them so they are able to share with you the academic and social/emotional growth of your children with specificity. With this Thursday, March 8 as a planned Early Release Day set aside for conferences, and it being a snow day, I am working collectively with my colleagues across the district to find an afternoon in the near future that they can be rescheduled. I apologize for this inconvenience and will be in touch with regards to this as soon as I have a confirmed date.
Next Monday, March 12 begins our first of two STEAM weeks. Students, staff, and myself are excited for the many presentations you are thoughtfully preparing to deliver. Thank you to our 2018 STEAM week committee, Aedin Culhane and Sharon Topper for all of your efforts to organize these meaningful experiences for our families to share their expertise with our school community.
Next Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 14 are our Kindergarten registration days. We look forward to welcoming our new incoming kindergarten students and families, as well as reconnecting with returning families.
This Friday, March 9 from 6-7:30 PM is Family BINGO night. There will be prizes for everyone, along with pizza, snacks, and beverages being available. I am eagerly anticipating connecting with students and families as I experience this event for the first time and have the opportunity to be a guest caller. This is a great way to begin your weekend and support our Mason-Rice School at the same time. Thank you to Marci Shyavitz for leading the charge on this incredible event!
As I shared this past week, I encourage you to join me for our third Principal Coffee of the school year on Monday, March 12 from 8:30-9:15 AM in the Centre. I plan to share about such initiatives as our recent Evacuation Drill, S.T.A.R.S. Assemblies, Work Shares, and the election of our new school mascot.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
