What an amazing World Cultures Festival we had this past Saturday, February 3. I was blown away by the thought, effort, and care so many of our Mason-Rice students and families put into creating interactive displays, engaging performances, and authentic foods. As I walked through our classrooms and shared conversations with many of you, it provided me another opportunity to see firsthand what an incredibly special, diverse school community we have. Thank you to our parent leaders Amy Konary, Pinar Kilicci Kret, Lucy Mermagen, and Gerlinde Struhkamp Munshi for organizing this event, as well as all of the families and students who contributed to this wonderful day.
Thank you to all of our families who were able to attend the visit of Superintendent David Fleishman and Newton School Committee members this past Tuesday, February 6. Your unwavering care for our school community is greatly appreciated.
This upcoming week (February 12-16) is National Heart Week and Mason-Rice students will have the opportunity to decorate a heart, writing down what they do to stay healthy, and then hanging their pieces of art in our gymnasium. Students are also encouraged to walk to school on all or most of the days to this upcoming Heart Week. We will not have an official walk to school day, but look forward to decorating and hanging our Heart art.
Lastly our school community is so very thankful for all of the support and encouraging words from all of you as we continue to keep Michelle London’s family in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
