It’s difficult to believe that we are already over half way through the month of November. On Tuesday, November 6 of this past week we had an outstanding Bake Sale in tandem with Election Day. A big thank you to Tripti Thomas-Travers, Felicia Khan, and Jill Ruiz for organizing this fundraiser, as well as all of the parent and student volunteers who helped to sell and create these delicious baked goods.
This Tuesday, November 14 we held a Staff Meeting in which our staff had the opportunity to work collectively with their grade level colleagues around ways to support their students in writing. Teachers were engaging with one another sharing student writing across classrooms, looking at student writing assessments to reflect on the completion of a specific unit (narrative, opinion, informational), or determining how they would embark upon their next unit to ensure student success. It was an extremely productive meeting.
Wednesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 16 of this week I attended the annual Principal’s Retreat with my colleagues across the district. The theme of our work was focused on how we support all of our students to be successful socially, emotionally, and academically and how critical building meaningful, authentic relationships with our students and families is to this work. It was great to have the time to collaborate with my colleagues on this important work.
Lastly, thank you to all of you and your children for your genuine interest in the birth of our son, Wynn. I feel so honored to work in a school community that I consider an extension of my own immediate family. When chatting with many of you in the mornings at drop off, or interacting with your children about Wynn when they ask me questions as I visit their classrooms, I feel so blessed. As the upcoming Thanksgiving Recess approaches I feel so thankful to be the leader of such a thoughtful school community.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend and a safe upcoming Thanksgiving Break.
