It was a terrific way to begin our week of school by having our entire school participate in our Jordan Bennett Weiss Walk for Health on Tuesday, October 10. The weather was gorgeous and the students’ genuine enthusiasm for taking part in this worthy cause was remarkable. Having the opportunity to share in conversations with your children as we walked around Crystal Lake was extremely rewarding. Upon returning back to Mason-Rice we were able to successfully get a continuous wave going with our entire school, which was quite impressive. A tremendous thank you goes out to Sara and Mark Weiss for establishing this walk to honor their son. In addition, we are thankful to Officer Andy and Officer Mark for helping us all maintain safety throughout the walk, especially as we crossed Beacon Street. Our entire school community is already looking forward to continuing this great tradition with the 14th annual walk this upcoming school year.
This Thursday, October 12 we had our third Fire Drill of the school year. The students have become experts on knowing exactly what to do, exiting the building calmly and quickly. We have successfully completed all of our fire drills for the fall and will continue again in the spring.
Lastly, it was great to have Officer Andy Umina, our school’s police officer, at our school at dismissal this past Friday, October 6 to support us with following our Blue Zone rules. Andy, as well as some other officers, will continue to come to Mason-Rice at random days in the future to support us in enforcing these important rules.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
