Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season and have had a great start to 2018. Despite the short week back, it has been great to get the chance to reconnect with many of you in the mornings at drop off and pick up. I have also really enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with your children as I visited classrooms, crossed paths in the hallways, or shared time with them at lunch or recess.
This upcoming week the staff, students, and I are looking forward to honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with our annual MLK Assembly next Friday, January 12. With this being my first time experiencing this assembly I am truly excited to hear our students celebrate Martin’s message of peace, love, and togetherness through a variety of artistic expressions that include songs, poems, and choral readings. This upcoming January 15 would be Martin’s 89th birthday and the importance of his words, work, and ideals will continue to guide, inspire, and lead us.
Lastly, I hope that this snowstorm and Arctic weather provides you some extra time as a family to play a board game, build a snow creature, or curl up on the couch and enjoy a read-aloud together.
I wish you all a wonderful extended weekend.
