Dear Mason-Rice Families,
Just 10 days of school left before we say good-bye to another school year. In the next two weeks we have several events and happenings we don’t want you to miss, so please make sure to review the Mason-Rice PTO calendar.
During our PTO Board meeting in May, we reviewed the PTO budget and open positions for the 2018-19 year. We would like to thank all the members of our PTO community that responded to our request to join the PTO Board next year. We present our community with the proposed Slate of Officers and Board Members as well as the summary of the proposed 2018-19 Budget (See details below). Please review our annual Letter, Budget & Slate in advance of the PTO’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 21 at 8:30am in the After Care Room below the Library. You can vote on the Slate and Budget in person during our Annual Meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may submit your form of proxy (at the top of the Slate document found in the link, or in the materials to be sent home in your child’s backpack) into the PTO proxy box in the lobby starting next week or email your form of proxy to firstname.lastname@example.org. We appreciate your participation and your incredible support throughout the year.
We’ve had a very busy week. On Tuesday Mason-Rice held another fantastic Field Day. Kids from every grade participated in friendly, competitive events that culminated in popsicles and smiles for all. Ms. Nohmy sends a very BIG thank you to all the parent volunteers and coordinators. We also want to thank Michael Holley and Nick Grossman for leading the charge this year and for their efforts to make sure Field Day was a success.
Friends and families of grades 4 and 5 took in another fabulous spring concert on Wednesday. A special thank you to our music teacher, Katie McIntosh, and all the kids for treating us to their amazing musical talents. We also want to thank strings instructor Cara Bergantino, instrumental instructor Tom Sheppard, accompanist Mrs. Ross and all the parents and staff who assisted during the evening.
Last weekend, METCO and FORJ (Families Organizing for Racial Justice) families hosted an event at the Neighborhood House Charter School in Dorchester for a social afternoon of games, food and fun. Thank you to all those who attended and a special thanks to the event organizers, Io Cyrus, Emily Frank, Neena McConnico, Molly Stearns and Sarah Fogelman. Also during last weekend, the 5th grade class held their annual carwash. Their hard work helped raise $564 for water.org and their efforts make us all proud.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, June 11 for our annual Mason-Rice Fun Run. Come and cheer for the kids as each grade races around the school field, and stay for a picnic to catch up with friends before school lets out for the summer. Please click here to view opportunities to volunteer. A+ Magazine is hot off the press and will be on sale during the Fun Run (and daily at afterschool pick-up) for $10.
Finally, please join us next Thursday, June 14 at 7:00pm for our final Parent Social of the year! Lauryl Anne and Steve Dubin (5th grade parents) are graciously opening their home to host the Spring Parent Social. This is a great opportunity to gather with old friends and meet new ones before the school year ends! This is an adult only event, so book your sitter! Sign up here to bring a food/drink item.
All the best,
Jas Rai & Will Adams
