What a great week we’ve had at Mason-Rice. As Jake mentioned, over 80 M-R parents gathered in the Centre on Monday night to hear Dr. Susan Swick and Dr. Richard Ginsburg talk about “Raising A Resilient Child”. It was an excellent discussion and we all learned something new. Thank you to everyone who attended our PTO-sponsored event. Thanks again to our Parent Social Coordinators, Sara Kaprove Penn and Jess Poscover, for creating and organizing the evening. The lecture slides will be shared as soon as we receive them.
Jess and Sara have also been hard at work organizing the upcoming Trivia Night at Union Street Bar on Monday, February 5 at 8PM. Are you wicked smahht and love friendly competition? Join us for a fun night of trivia and socializing with M-R parents. Please see below for details and signup.
Also this week, our annual online auction is off and running. Click here to go to the auction homepage and take time to peruse the many amazing donations, particularly the ones from parents. We are thankful to the hosts and grateful for the thoughtfulness that has gone into them – from parties to poker games to a purple zone parking spot to delicious ethnic foods.
We have asked many parents for contributions — and we would also like to ask all Mason-Rice parents to bid on those amazing services and events. The auction is a great time to build your Mason-Rice community and connect with other parents, particularly those who may or may not be in your child’s class or grade. We are blessed to have a lot of fun, friendly, talented, welcoming parents here — so use this as an opportunity to build your social network. Plus, the reviews from the parent-hosted services and events are always glowing.
Given that we still have many parent-hosted items available, we are going to give you a little homework this weekend:
Take 10 minutes to look at the MASON-RICE ONLY auction items. Do you like beer? Movies? Basketball? BBQ? Square dancing? A nice dinner that you don’t have to cook? (Who doesn’t!) All of these are available through the auction and more! Check them out.
If you are reluctant to purchase on your own, reach out to other parents you know to buy into the same experience.
By the end of the weekend, bid on a event, service or dinner for yourself or one to enjoy with a spouse, partner, friend or even your whole family. Thanks in advance for your support!
Lastly, we hope you have saved the date for the upcoming World Cultures Festival on Saturday, February 3, from 1-4PM. This biennial school event celebrates the diversity of our school community, which represents 37 countries from around the world. Filled with delicious food, engaging displays, and inspiring performances, the World Cultures Festival brings to life the history and cultures of our many countries represented by the M-R community. Please see details below for signup.
All the best,
Will Adams & Jas Rai
